The Oakland Readers consist of four series of life stories told by students in the Second Start Adult Literacy Program of the Oakland Public Library. There are four books in each series ranging in level from beginner to advanced. They are illustrated with black and white photographs of the writers.
The first series consists of: 1: "When I Travel I Like to Fly" (590-0024), 2: "Twelfth Grade Common Sense" (590-0025), 3: "The South Was Pretty Cold" (590-0026) and 4: "Deep Feeling Feedback" (590-0027).
The four books in the First Series are available individually or as this set.
