This is a study of the experience of a group of adult education practitioners engaged in practitioner inquiry. It is based on data collected at the final institute of the NALPIN network in August 1997, attended by 23 practitioners from Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia. The study provides useful insights into the state of practitioner inquiry in adult education in the United States.
