Learning Differently
Assessing and Developing Literary Skills with Adults and Young People
by Judy Geyer-Jennings, Ros Butcher, Daryl Greaves
Price: $15.00

Up to 70% of adults and young people who access a literacy program present with some form of learning difficulty (dyslexia).  Practitioners in the Literacy field can certainly attest to encountering students who seem to struggle to make progress despite good teaching practices.

Up until now, the learning needs of these students have been largely ignored.  this resourece book seeks to redress this situation and provide practical and thorough pathways for literacy practitioners to assist, and more appropriately meet the diverse needs of literacy learners.

This Resource book is divided into three sections.  The first section is an intake questionnaire, providing initial information on writing ,reading and oral skills.  A more detailed picture of the person's literacy learning strengths and weaknesses can be explored with the literacy ability profile.  Through this, an assessment of the learner's processing abilities in decoding and comprehension can be made.  The final section of the book provides a range of specific learning strategies to match the literacy learning strengths and weaknessess of the student.
