Inside Out is a resource book designed for use with students in correctional environments. It features a range of stimulsting texts and activities intended to assist students to develop skills necessary to complete the certificates of General Education for Adults (CGEA), providing practice in reading a variety of texts, vocabulary extension and a spring board to writing. The resources and activities in the book are geared for students at level 3 of the CGEA in reading and writing, but may be adapted to meet the needs of students at other levels.
The authors chose topics and activities based on their own experiences teaching in correctional environments, incorporating real-life issues like drugs, domestic conflict, and multiculturalism. The language used and the inclusion of such controversial topics could also be popular with youth groups or others.
