Six "jigsaw activities" designed to foster cooperative learning.
Each jigsaw is divided into three sections: synopsis and expert group exercises to be completed by students in "expert groups"; exercises to completed by students in the "jigsaw group"; and exercises completed by the entire class.
Topics of the units include: Is There Life Out There? - about UFOs; Are We Turning Into Super Humans? - about the use of steroids in sports; Just Say No - about marijuana use; Dangerous Waters - about drift net fishing; Open or Closed Doors? - about immigration and employment; and To Butt Out or Not to Butt Out - about smoking in public.
